Lantern-making

Thanks to everyone who came along to the Drovers Hall this afternoon to help make lanterns for the Festival street parade. Emma Newman, BRA’s Youth Arts Manager, got us all playing with glue and paper, and has now been crowned Tennant’s Queen of Lanterns. Sandy Edwards, BRA’s photgrapher-in-residence, popped in and captured the action, as you’ll see below.

The design of these lanterns is inspired by Kaye Beasley’s Festival artwork ‘Three Flowers’. This will become more apparent when we put the colour on tomorrow, so if you’d like to help with that transformation, come to the Drovers Hall (Winanjjikari Music Centre) at 65 Staunton St between 1 and 5 pm. We’ll give you a plastic apron, and keep your energy levels up by feeding you biscuits or cumquats!
